acne in adults

Adult Acne Causes and what can we do?

Acne is very annoying for adults. The treatments we see in adolescence do not work when we are adults and may even aggravate our acne.

Causes of Adult Acne?

Some adults may still have acne problems in their 30s, 40s or even 50s. The incidence is higher in women in the menopausal period.

If you are an adult and have acne, the causes may be:

Fluctuating hormone level: Imbalance in hormone level can cause acne.

Causes of hormone level fluctuations;

On period days

During pregnancy, pre-menopause and during menopause

After cessation of birth control pill use

Stress: Researchers found the relevance between tension and acne flare-ups. In response to tension, our body’s response is the secretion of androgen hormone. The androgen hormone activates the sebaceous glands and hair follicles in our body, thus triggering acne.

Family medical history: It may be present in those with blood ties such as mother, father or close siblings. If this genetic predisposition runs in your family, your risk of acne increases.

Hair and skin care products: If you have acne, you should read the labels of the hair and skin care products you use. Each piece of art you use must have one of the following at random.

Non-comedogenic (Non-comedogenic – does not clog pores)

Non-acnegenic

Oil-free

non-pore clogging

Let’s make sure you have one of these in your moisturizer, facial cleanser, sunscreen and other products.

Medication side effects: The side effects of some medications are acne. If you think that the drugs you are taking are triggering your acne or making it worse, continue to take the drug, but you should talk to the doctor who prescribed the drug. If the question is whether you can use another drug or not, you should see a dermatologist to get acne under control.

An undiagnosed medical condition: Sometimes we may have an undiagnosed health issue under acne and our acne will improve when we are treated.

There are effective treatments for adult acne
