Arm Aesthetics – Arm Lift

With aging, sagging and looseness occur in the arms over the years. It is possible to get rid of sagging and excess skin and fat accumulation in the arms with arm stretching surgery or brachioplasty surgery. Apart from aging, loose and drooping skin folds can be seen on the upper arms following excessive weight loss in overweight individuals. In this regard, arm lift surgery is one of the necessary operations, especially in people who lose a lot of weight after obesity.

Sometimes, liposuction may be recommended in addition to arm lift surgery. If the problem is regional lubrication, only liposuction may be an adequate treatment.

  • Technical Information About Arm Lift Surgery

The aim of the surgery is to remove excess skin and fat tissue accumulated in the upper arm area. With this surgery, an incision is made starting from the elbow and extending from the inner face of the upper arm to the armpit. A shorter incision that can be hidden under the armpit may be sufficient in cases where the excess skin and sagging are minimal and it is located close to the armpit.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. After the surgery, a drain is placed to absorb the accumulated blood and fluid in the area, and this is often removed after 1-2 days. Stitches are removed after a week. Afterwards, a supportive elastic bandage or corset should be applied. You can take a bath on the 3rd day.

The patient should avoid any random pulling, lifting or reaching movements and heavy activities in the early postoperative period. Heavy movements should be avoided for 1-2 months.
