Beard transplantation, which has been observed to be an increasing demand recently, is the face of hair transplantation processes. Beard Transplantation is based on the transplantation of hair follicles taken from the scalp, in the beard and mustache area of men, to areas where hair is sparse or absent.
This process can be applied to the chin, cheeks, sideburns and mustache areas. It can also be applied to camouflage acne scars or other scars on the face.
Hair root losses in the beard and mustache area can occur for different reasons. This condition may be hereditary, or it may occur after laser epilation, needle epilation, surgical processes or burns.
In beard transplantation, the roots to be transplanted to sparse areas can be tightened, as well as the areas where there is no hair. In this way, it is tried to reach the beard – mustache state desired by the person.
Although the number of roots to be used may vary, it is around 350-500 for the mustache, 600-700 for the chin area, 200-250 for the sideburns, and 300-700 for the cheek area.
The hair follicles to be transplanted are taken from the nape area or temples. Where the roots will be taken is decided according to the condition of the hair in the planting area. If the hair in the area is more similar to the hair in the area to be planted, the roots are taken from there. It should not be forgotten that if the person who has a beard transplant will also request a hair transplant in the future, the number of roots to be used for hair transplant is reduced. Because, whether in hair transplantation or beard transplantation, the area where the hair follicles are taken is exactly the same. The person who wants to have a beard transplant should also consider this for the future.
Adjusting the color distribution, angle and direction of the transplanted hairs is the part that requires mastery.
Beard transplantation is performed under local anesthesia and sedation and takes two to five hours. It can be said that the process is generally painless. After the process, tiny crusts form around the transplanted roots. The planting area should be kept dry and should not be touched.
It will not be necessary to shave for ten days after the procedure. Therefore, it is useful to make the necessary arrangements in your workplace and social activities in terms of process timing.
On the second day after the procedure, physical activities that are not too demanding and if the person comes from outside the city are allowed to return to their home. It should not be forgotten that when you look at the face area for 4-5 days, it will be obvious that a process has been made.
The hairs at the ends of the transplanted roots begin to fall out after about two weeks, there is nothing to worry about. After about three months, the hairs start to grow again.
In order for the procedure to be successful and to avoid situations such as infection and scarring, it is beneficial to perform post-process care despite the doctor’s instructions.
Before and after the procedure, it is important to follow the doctor’s recommendations for the process to go smoothly and to get the most pleasant result.
