Facelift or rejuvenation surgeries (facelift surgery) cover the surgical processes to remove aging symptoms, sagging and wrinkles around the face, neck and eyes.
What is the aim of face lift surgery?
Correcting sagging, especially in the mid-face area
Removing deep lines formed at the junction of the lip and cheek
Removing skin sagging under the chin and revealing the contours of the chin
Removing sagging and wrinkles in the length Face lift or rejuvenation surgeries are not surgeries to recreate the person. It is the restoration of youth contours that you have lost on your face due to various reasons (age, genetics, gravity, sun, environmental factors such as dryness). Before deciding on surgery, non-surgical (botox, filler, thread stretching, laser, etc.) rejuvenation processes should also be considered. Although these techniques provide a beautification, they are not as effective as surgery.
Surgery and anesthesia
General or intravenous (sedation) anesthesia is applied. The surgical scar remains in front of the ear. If the process is performed on the temple and neck region, the surgical scar starts at the junction of the hair and skin on the temple, goes down in front of the ear, goes around the back of the ear chest, and again lies within the scalp on the nape. The sagging in the structures under the skin is repaired. Excess tissues are removed by stretching the skin. Often drains are used. If necessary, the eyelids and eyebrows can be intervened in the same session. Forehead lift can also be added to the procedure.
Postoperative
You will have bandages and wraps to reduce bleeding and swelling on your face after surgery. Drains are usually removed on the 1st or 2nd day depending on the bleeding situation. You usually stay in the hospital for 1 or 2 days. Stitches are removed within 1 week. You may have edema and bruises on your face for a few weeks. It may take several months for the full shape of your face to appear.
Risks
As with any surgery, there is a risk of anesthesia.
Bleeding, infection, suture opening, skin necrosis (gangrene) especially in smokers
Discontinuous or permanent paralysis of the facial border – Discontinuous or permanent hair loss at the suture margin
