As in male type hair transplantation, the primary treatment option in female type is hair transplant surgery. The surgical option should be combined with medical treatment. For women, topical minoxidil is the only FDA-approved medical option. However, other drugs such as spironolactone, oral contraceptives, finasteride and dutasteride are used with great success. Low-dose light therapy (LLLT) is also included in the treatment protocols recommended by the FDA. Especially with the spread of surgical centers where long hair transplantation is performed without cutting the hair, hair transplantation surgery is a reliable option with more permanent and striking results.
